The Secretary of the Executive Committee of the First Conference on Standards and Standardization in the Maritime Industry announced that the event will be held at Amirkabir University of Technology on December 2, 2025, stating that the goal of the conference is to bring together academic and industrial experts to exchange ideas and promote the role of standards across various fields, particularly in the maritime industry.
According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Meysam Bali, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the First Conference on Standards and Standardization in the Maritime Industry, emphasized that the concept of a standard means applying correct and verified principles in industry, ensuring that a design is optimized both technically and economically.
He stressed that the topic of standards is not limited to industry alone, noting that it also applies to broader areas such as education, medicine, and even proper human lifestyles. Thus, standards have continuously evolved and improved throughout history — a process that reflects the integration of science and practice through research and experience.
Bali added that simultaneous collaboration between academic and industrial experts can greatly contribute to the advancement of this field. The conference, he said, provides a valuable opportunity for both groups to exchange knowledge and perspectives.
He highlighted that while the main focus of the conference is standards in the maritime industry, it will also address topics relevant to other sectors.
According to Dr. Bali, the event will include training workshops, keynote speeches, specialized panels, an exhibition, industrial visits, and awards for outstanding theses, research projects, and papers.
He stated that, following an extension due to recent events, the paper submission deadline has been set for October 6, and the review and acceptance results will be announced by the second week of November.
The faculty member of Amirkabir University of Technology noted that the main themes of the conference include technical and engineering standards and standardization in maritime industries, standards and sustainable maritime development, standards and economic–industrial development, and management and standardization frameworks.
He further explained that applying standards—especially in maritime environments—can help reduce navigational and transportation accidents, optimize technical and economic marine designs, mitigate environmental pollution, and ultimately enhance the blue economy. He emphasized the need to integrate up-to-date research and practical experience, and to create a platform that facilitates access to such valuable knowledge.
Dr. Bali added that various academic and industrial organizations will participate in this event. Alongside Amirkabir University of Technology, the Marine Industries Organization, the National Standards Organization of Iran, the Iranian Defense Standards Center, and the Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy are among the main sponsors of the conference.
Regarding the conference schedule, he announced that it will be held on December 2, followed by workshops on December 3. Additionally, plans are underway to organize a specialized field visit on December 4, though this has not yet been finalized.
He concluded that approximately 60 papers are expected to be accepted for presentation, either orally or as posters, during the conference.
